The annual Howling Night Run 5K run and walk is a timed Halloween-themed event, which is also considered appropriate for children. However, due to the nature of this event, it is not pet-friendly. Only parents know their children and how their children will react to a Halloween-themed event with props and individuals in costume trying to be scary. Each parent must make their own decision of whether or not this event is appropriate for their unique child.

Join us at Arizona Falls, (GR Herberger Park) in the prestigious Arcadia neighborhood in east north-central Phoenix. Make the Howling Night Run 5K one of your must-do races. With its professionally timed ultra-fast, flat looping course, you stand a good chance of achieving your next PR or instead plan to take it all in with a leisurely walk.

Using a headlamp at this event is recommended.

CHANGE REQUESTS
Processing a change request is simple and fast!

Complete change requests online through Saturday, October 21, 2023—Cutoff times vary, view them under each change request type below.

Change Request Summary:

Without RaceLookup Protect, race entries are:

  • Non-refundable and non-transferable into the next year’s event regardless of the reason.
  • Transferable to another person or the virtual option with a $15 processing fee.
  • Updatable without a processing fee—correcting a misspelling, incorrect birthdate or gender, changing an emergency contact or address, or other inaccurate personal information.

With RaceLookup Protect, when active, race entries are:

  • Fully or partially refundable depending on the plan—with refunds made to the payment method used during the initial registration.
  • Transferable into the next year’s event, to another person, or the virtual option without a processing fee.
  • Updatable without a processing fee—correcting a misspelling, incorrect birthdate or gender, changing an emergency contact or address, or other inaccurate personal information.

With or without RaceLookup Protect, virtual race entries are:

  • Non-refundable and non-transferable into the next year’s virtual option regardless of the reason.
  • Non-transferable to another person or the physical event.
  • Updatable without a processing fee—correcting a misspelling, incorrect birthdate, gender, or address, or other inaccurate personal information.

Change Request Options:

(available to all participants with or without an active RaceLookup Protect protection plan)

Transfer to another person:
No one may participate in any race category using someone else’s information. Instead, transfer and update the original race entry to the new participant. Doing so will prevent the new participant’s disqualification and the temporary impact to all other participants.

Both change requests (step 1 and 2) must be complete at least 15 minutes before the race’s planned start time. Go to the times listed on the homepage under location and times to determine the start time.

Optionally, complete (Step 1, 2, or both) on race day during packet pickup and onsite registration. When completing this request (step 1, 2, or both) onsite on race day, it must be complete 15 or more minutes before the race’s planned start time. Step 1 requires the original race entry holder to be present. Step 2 requires the new race entry holder to be present.

There is a $15 processing fee to transfer a race entry to another person (step 1) unless an optional RaceLookup Protect protection plan was purchased and is active. There is no processing fee to update a race entry to another person (step 2.)

  • To determine whether an optional protection plan was purchased, go to the participant registration confirmation email sent by support@racelookup.com. It will indicate the plan level bought and, if not, will show declined.
  • If a protection plan was purchased, locate the activation email, sent separately of the registration confirmation by support@racelookup.com, containing the protection plan number. You will need this number to waive the processing fee and complete the transfer request.
  • If you cannot find the email containing your protection plan number, contact us at least 15 minutes before the race’s planned start time and request it. Also, indicate you want to complete a change request to transfer your race entry to another person. Indicate the new person’s first and last name.
  • Upon completing a race entry transfer to another person, the protection plan inactivates, cancels, and terminates and is no longer unusable.

Step 1 (original participant) – go to the participant registration confirmation email sent by support@racelookup.com at the time of registering and use the change link provided to complete the request. The race entry will not be updated to the new participant until step 1 is complete.

After submitting the request, you will receive a transfer email containing a promotional code from support@racelookup.com. Give this code to the new participant; it will allow them to register for the race online without any associated cost.

Step 2 (new participant) – After receiving the original participant’s promotional code from step 1, go to the race registration and register yourself into the race. The use of the promotional code will allow you to register online without any associated costs.

When completing step 1 online near the start of the race, the transfer email containing the promotional code may not be received in time to register online. In this case, the new participant should plan to complete step 2 onsite during packet pickup and onsite registration.

If the original participant has already received a bib, plan to surrender it. The old participant or new participant can return it during onsite packet pickup on race day. The new participant will not receive a new bib until this is complete.

RaceLookup Protect Exclusive Change Request Options:

(requires an active RaceLookup Protect protection plan optionally purchased with the participant’s race entry)

Cancel and request a refund:
This change request must be completed online and requires an active optional RaceLookup Protect protection plan. To be accepted, it must be complete before the planned start time of the race. Go to times listed on the homepage under location and times to determine the start time. It is not required to receive a refund when the event cancels.

To determine whether an optional protection plan was purchased, go to the participant registration confirmation email sent by support@racelookup.com. It will indicate the plan level bought and, if not, will show declined.

If a protection plan was purchased, locate the email, sent separately of the registration confirmation by support@racelookup.com, containing the protection plan number. You will need this number to complete the request.

If you cannot find the email containing your protection plan number, contact us before the planned start of the race and request it. Also, indicate you want to complete a change request to cancel your race entry and request a refund.

The protection plan only covers the actual cost paid for the race entry.

  • RaceLookup does not charge additional fees or taxes to register and purchase a race entry.
  • The refunded amount may not match the full price of the race entry.
    • Discounts received when purchasing a race entry are not covered (early registration pricing, a promotion, or both.)
    • Depending on the plan selected, provisions vary and may fully cover the amount paid or partially cover the amount paid. Prorated plans use the original cancel date to determine the reimbursed amount.
    • Registrants with the Premium plan receive 100% of the race entry fee back when canceling before the event’s start time.
    • Registrants with the Basic plan receive 100% of the race entry fee back when canceling 30 or more days before the event. They receive 75% 20-29 days prior, 50% 6-19 days prior, or 25% when canceling before the event’s start time and up to 5 days earlier.

The protection plan does not cover:

    • Gifts received from us as a participant purchasing a race entry (race shirt, finisher medal, or promotional items.)
    • Optional donations or optional apparel or other items you may have purchased during registration.

Upon issuance of the refund, the plan inactivates, cancels, terminates, and is no longer usable. The reimbursement, issued to the original form of payment used to purchase the race entry, is made within 15 business days of submitting the race entry cancel and request a refund request. It automatically issues within 15 business days when the event cancels, and the protection plan is active.

If you would still like to receive a race shirt and finisher medal, instead of canceling your race entry, transfer it to the virtual option. Both are included and will be shipped.

As a part of canceling the race entry, if apparel or other optional items were purchased, you will be notified by email as those items ship. The email will also contain the tracking number for the shipment.

Make sure the validation shipping address is correct when entered. We will use this address to ship to you. So simple, run or walk anywhere, anytime and be a part of the fun of the Howling Night Run! Then, score serious bling!Register by October 21, 2023
Record result and post photo by October 31, 2023

Here’s how it works:

Pick the virtual option during registration. Plan your virtual run or walk, complete it, and come back here to record your result and post an optional photo! If you can imagine it, you can complete it:

Complete your run or walk outside on a course you create with your mobile running and walking app or with another event you participate in and complete. Run or walk on an outdoor path, track, or trail, or maybe indoors on a treadmill at home or the gym, or even plan indoors at the mall. Do it solo or complete it with your friends and family or running or walking group buddies. Only you’ll be able to decide.Sport some serious bling:

Secure your finisher medal through the mail. Secure your drawstring backpack by mail when optionally purchased during registration.Record your result and post a picture or two:

Log your run or walk, take a few pictures, and optionally post one or two to the Howling Night Run Facebook page. What to expect:

Your race packet containing your finisher medal and any optionally purchased items will ship USPS within 15 business days from the physical event date. You will receive an email confirmation containing the USPS shipment tracking number as your parcel ships. Your digital bib will also be attached.

Allow 15 business days from submitting your race result for it to reflect in the online race results. To avoid forfeiture of your online results and digital finisher certificate, you must record your race result by the deadline.

PARTICIPATING AS A TEAM

The initial member registering for the race will be able to create their team during registration. Additional members will then select their team from the team drop-down.

Each team member’s race result will indicate their team name, so you do not need to qualify for team results to be recognized as a team.

To compete, you must have at least five members.

A team qualifies for group results in a race category when it has at least five members with valid race results. That team’s top five qualifying members in the race category are used to compute the team’s overall placement.
